Crookes, Sheffield

Situated just above Broomhill you will find Crookes, another very popular student friendly area with a great atmosphere. It might take you walking (or getting a bus, there are regular services) up the hills, but it is definitely worth it, the views over Sheffield are spectacular, and it will only take you fifteen to twenty minutes to get back down again for lectures.

The fields behind Crookes also lead to the Peak District, making it the perfect beginning to a day's walk. Many students live in Crookes as the price and quality of the housing is generally good and there are many local amenities. For food shopping there are various supermarkets, fresh food shops and discount stores to make sure you get whatever you fancy, or alternatively one of the bus services that runs through Crookes also goes to two big supermarkets. And if you don't fancy cooking, there is a generous supply of cafes, restaurants and takeaways whatever your favourite cuisine.

Crookes is also famous for its incredible pubs, there are several in the area, and tend to be cosy and very welcoming and are often full of student in the evening relaxing after a day of lectures. Alongside these are various gift shops, florists, hairdressers and beauty salons, meaning that your every need will be catered for here. Another plus is that the walk/run to lectures is always downhill, which may or may not be useful if you're running late!
