Crookesmoor and Commonside look like practically the same place, and they do flow into each other very nicely. This area is also home to many students as it is a very convenient area, being about a ten to fifteen minute walk down to the university, during which the view of the changing seasons over Crookes Valley Park is surely something to wake you up and get you motivated.
Crookesmoor and Commonside themselves are full of handy amenities to ensure you have everything you need, with several food shops, although these can occasionally be a little pricey so it may be handy if you or a friend has a car enabling you to drive somewhere slightly cheaper. Even so, the variety of shops in Crookesmoor and Commonside make it a great place to live with hardware stores, specialist drink stores, cafes and a number of restaurants, Indian restaurants are a particular speciality in this area and you are sure to find the perfect curry.
If you don't feel like eating out, there are also a variety of takeaways in or close to this area to cater to whatever you would like.There are also some excellent student friendly pubs around here, and some do offers specifically for students so they are always worth a visit.
