Shopping in Sheffield

Like all the major cities in the UK, Sheffield plays host to many of the big high street brands you'll probably be used to wherever you come from.

The massive Meadowhall Shopping Centre is just a twenty minute tram ride away from the city centre, which should cater for all of your shopping needs, whether it is high street or designer labels you are looking for. As well as this, the city centre has many of the high street stalwarts, which all centre around either Fargate or The Moor and are both pleasant places to walk around. The city centre also regularly plays host to markets, which sell everything from local farm produce, to European specialities to gifts. One of the best things about Sheffield is the amount of small individual shops and boutiques there are.

Head up somewhere like Division Street and the Devonshire Quarter for a whole host of unique shops, from vintage clothes stores to quirky accessories and fancy dress shops. Ecclesall Road is also a top spot for shopping, although slightly out of the city centre it has a very relaxed cosmopolitan feel and is very popular with students. Like the Devonshire Quarter it is full of one off boutiques and cute shops. Team this with the various opportunities for food shopping, and it is definitely worth a visit.

Remember to always ask if they offer a student discount – it will save you an impressive amount of money in the next few years!
