We're Here to Help

Your journey through postgraduate study will hopefully be a smooth one, but if problems do arise we’ve got the knowledge and support to help you resolve them.

Our Student Advice Centre offers free, professional, confidential advice on issues ranging from employment to academic studies. It also specialises in many postgraduate specific issues such as postgraduate funding, exam re-sits for postgraduate taught students and PhD supervision. Annually, it deals with over 1,500 enquiries from postgraduates.

If you are looking for work to help subsidise your study or gain experience in related industries our Jobshop and the University's Careers Service can provide assistance.

The University also provides key support services such as Sexual Health, Eating Disorders, Mental Health Advice, Children's Services, our Nightline information and confidential listening phone service, our Welfare Officer, Counselling Service, and Health Service.

For students with children we also have a nursery, play scheme and International Créche. Visit our Children's Services webpage for more information.

We understand how useful peer to peer support can be when studying as a postgraduate so we also facilitate many postgraduate groups and representatives, who can offer support from individual to faculty level. So if you do hit a problem or need assistance during your time here, seek out our relevant support to help you through.
