Your voice can be pretty powerful when it's joined with 24,000 others.
One of our key roles is to be a strong student voice for the interests of students at the University of Sheffield. We work to make sure that your views are heard by the University, across the city and on national and international issues. We're also a member of the National Union of Students (NUS) so we can speak up for Sheffield students at a national level.
As a member, you also have a voice in running your Students' Union. All of our big decisions are made by the students you elect, or directly by you voting. Your 8 full-time Student Officers work throughout the year to represent you and support the work of our network of over 750 student representatives across the campus. One of the Student Officer roles is that of International Students' Officer, a position held this year by Krissy Meyer:
Hi everyone!

My name is Krissy and I am your International Students' Officer this year. I am sure you are all excited to get to know the city and the University. With students from over 130 countries, we have a truly multi-cultural and diverse student population. There is a lot to discover and you should enjoy and make use of your time here as much as you can.
As a student representative I am keen to hear your ideas and opinions. So don't hesitate to drop into my office when you arrive or send me an email: krissy.meyer@sheffield.ac.uk.
There are lots of ways to get involved and make your experience at University even better. You can become a course rep for your department, Students' Union Councillor or even stand for elections for an Officer position.
I look forward to welcoming you to your new Students' Union,
Krissy Meyer
