Activities & Sports
The range of activities and sports available through Sheffield Students' Union is extensive. We offer something for everyone whether you've already an activity or looking to start a new one.
We have:
- 250+ societies. This includes many National Societies representing countries and cultures from across the globe. Join yours and exhibit your traditions and culture to the rest of the student population. Alternatively, you can become a member of another national society to learn more about a specific region or country of your interest.
We don't only have national societies. There is a vast range of different student groups that you can join focusing on interests such as art, faith, music, technology, nationality, politics and science.
- A 'Give it a Go' programme, offering you the chance to try new activities, develop skills and visit different destination at discounted rates. Not only does the programme offer you plenty of things to do but it is also is a great way to make new friends. Give it a Go daytrips are very popular with International students. On them you can explore some of Britain's most famous cities and attractions, such as Cambridge, the Lake District, and London.
- Activities that help your local community with over 200 SheffieldVolunteering projects, and numerous RAG ('Raising and Giving') events raising money for charity throughout the year.
- 47 sports clubs, and numerous other sport and fitness opportunities available through 'Sport Sheffield', whatever your level.
- A media hub with two radio studios and iMacs for use by societies.
- A music practice room.
If you live in University accommodation you'll be part of our Endcliffe, Ranmoor or City Community too. This means you'll gain access to exclusive events and activities centred around where you live including postgraduate student socials and trips held each month.
You can also get involved in running these activities when you arrive by becoming a member of your Community Development Committee.
