The Tuesday Club

TTC interviews Skream

We caught up with the legendary producer / DJ ahead of his set at The Tuesday Club on 1st May.

TTC: You've just recently finished a tour of the US & Canada and also headlined at Snowbombing Festival and shedloads more I bet - how's it all going?

Skream: The tour was amazing and pretty crazy (messy) at the same time, how could it not have been! At one point you had me, Benga, Pokes, Jackmaster, Hijak,Plastician all on 1 tour bus!!!! But yeah it was great! Luckily I've still been getting a little bit of production in, producing 2 tracks for Kelis, 1 for Miles Kane and finished a few club bangers so as long as thats happening everything is great!

TTC: And the BBC Radio 1 show? Now you're primetime Fridays! How does the set in your radio show differ from what you play out at gigs?

Skream: On the radio show we're playing all aspects of dubstep and bass music, for instance we have a feature called 130 at 11:30 where we play our favourite 130bpm tunes of the week...Think Boddika, Justin Martin, Disclosure, Kill Frenzy etc
My club shows are still alot more intense and dancefloor based but I'll still play anything from Dismantle to Liquid to Dillon Francis....

TTC: Ah sweet, Dillon Francis is playing TTC on 15th May actually. Speaking of which, It's been about a year since you were last at TTC - are you looking forward to it? (here's a video from last time :-)

Skream: Come on, everybody knows TTC is one of my favourite nights in the UK..I'm expecting the usual: a wicked crowd who are up for anything!

TTC: For those who've never seen one of your shows with Pokes at TTC - what can they expect?

Skream: Beats, bass and a man with dreadlocks lol...Nah people can expect to hear loads of music they've never heard before, big basslines and the sickest hype man around!

TTC: Scratcha DVA is joining you on the bill, have you played on many lineups with him? How do you rate him as producer / DJ.

Skream: Yeah, we were on Rinse.FM together. His breakfast show was amazing! Sick producer too!

TTC: Give us a couple of hot tips for producers or DJs we should be looking out for in the next 6 months.

Skream: Not that I need to tell you about him but Jackmaster is still my favourite DJ around! Producer-wise keep an eye on Dismantle, Dream, Stryker Matthews and Echo Park!

TTC: Finally a question from one of our Street Team crew :-S ... Who would win in a fight. A man with no arms or a man with one leg.

Skream: The man with one leg because he's still got both his arms innit hahaha.

Skream will be playing a special extended set on Tuesday night with the inimitable Sgt. Pokes, Scratcha DVA and Andy H.
