Holiday Playscheme

Monday 24th July - Friday 30 August

Come and support the staff at the holiday playscheme, work with children with Special Educational Needs, help to plan and provide a range of activities for 4 to 12 year olds. We run every school holiday apart from Christmas at King Edwards upper School in Broomhill. We are looking for people who can offer a commitment of up to an academic year to help support the playscheme team. Eltc - Conversation Club

Tuesdays 3.30pm-5pm

The Conversation Club helps ELTC international students practice natural everyday English conversation in a relaxed environment. This will help ELTC students increase their fluency and confidence in speaking English. You can help facilitate conversations in small groups. Volunteers should confirm their availability in advance. The Sunday Centre

Sundays 12.30pm-4.30pm

The Sunday Centre provides a friendly shelter for homeless, isolated and vulnerable people where they can obtain refreshments and a cooked meal in the city centre on a Sunday afternoon. You can help serve drinks and food to guests and chat if they feel they can. There is opportunity to work in the kitchens preparing food or serving as desired. Broomhall Breakfast

Fridays 7.30am-10.30am

The Broomhall Breakfast provides a free breakfast, and a meeting place, for the homeless, vulnerable and marginalised people of Sheffield. Missing People

Missing People offers a lifeline for the 250000 people who run away and go missing each year. We also provide support for their family and friends. You can help with our Search Days which raise awareness of our local appeals to find missing people and encourage members of the public to support us. Safe At Last

Safe at Last works with young runaways offering immediate help and support. There are many different ways you can help: helpline work, school presentations, raising awareness with school pupils, assisting Project Workers with case based work, helping with events, and helping with admin. Lost Chord - Meadowhall Stall

Saturday 6 July, 10am - 5pm (full day / half day / 1 hour

Lost Chord provides musical sessions in homes for the elderly, designed to stimulate responses from people living with dementia through the media of music, song and dance. We need musicians to perform at our Meadowhall stall to promote our work as well as musicians and other artists to take part in our on-going elderly entertainment project. We also need helpers on the stall to talk to people about Lost Chord and help us raise awareness of our work. Darnall Dementia Group

Darnall Dementia Group provides support for people with dementia and their carers in Darnall and surrounding area. You can help at a day centre for people with dementia making tea, washing up, helping with activities, spending time talking with people who have dementia. Older Person Befriender - Rotherham

The Befriending Service supports people with dementia. This involves befriending people with early-stage dementia helping them to remain socially active for as long as they wish, or are able to do so. You will be visiting a person with dementia on a regular basis (a few hours each week or fortnight), building trust and companionship, and volunteering in a person's home or in the local community. Third Sector Cafe

The Third Sector Cafe runs monthly meetings for not for profit organisations in the city to discuss issues currently affecting them, and share ideas for ways to manage them. We would love to have a volunteer help us with our event: we need help with taking names as people arrive, taking notes through the meeting, interviewing participants to get their stories and writing up the event afterwards in a 'briefing' which gets added to our website so others can download it later. The Healthy Lifestyle Roadshows help to raise awareness of the risk factors of Type 2 diabetes, and to encourage people to get tested by their healthcare team if they are at risk. Sheffield Mencap And Gateway

Mencap supports and values people with a learning disability and their families and carers. We have a range of volunteering roles that you can take part in. Our Holiday Hub takes groups of adults with learning disabilities in to the community to get involved in various activities, such as visiting museums. Our SNIPS (special needs inclusion playcare service) project involves largely 1:1 playwork with children on the autistic spectrum. Belong Carnival Day

Belong offers training and social opportunities to adults with learning difficulties. We offer a service that encourages personal growth, achievement and confidence.
