On this page you’ll find all the amazing projects and events organised by students. In these projects, you’ll work as part of a team of students – sometimes working on or nearby campus.

Regular (i.e. fortnightly or monthly)

ANTS (A Nice Times on Saturdays)

Weekend activities for 8-12 year old children who have experienced the loss of a parent or sibling. Monthly commitment. November to May. Sign up in October.

Computer Club

An hour of lively hubbub every Saturday morning for 8-14 year old children with autism. One-to-one role. Fortnightly commitment - November to May. Sign up in October.

Children’s Project

Regular weekend outings plus a week long summer residential for 8-11 year old children experiencing difficult circumstances. Monthly commitment.- November to May with option of residential in August. Sign up in October.

Clubbing Crew

A group which regularly takes adults with learning difficulties out to enjoy the Sheffield night-life. Fortnightly commitment - November to May. Sign up in October. Funded by v, the youth volunteering charity.

Flourish

Activities (e.g. art, cookery & games) for adults with acquired brain injuries to socialise & regain skills/confidence. Fortnightly commitment - November to May. Sign up in October. Funded by v, the youth volunteering charity.

Lego Club

Model building to help primary school children to explore through play and encourage positive interaction within families. Choose from one of three timeslots. Fortnightly commitment - November to May. Sign up in February. Funded by v, the youth volunteering charity.

Saturday Playgroup

Activities for 3-8 year old children with learning disabilities and their siblings. One-to-one role. Fortnightly commitment - November to May. Sign up in October.

SIBS (Something Interesting for Brothers and Sisters)

Weekend activities for 8-12 year old children who have siblings with special needs. Monthly commitment - November to May. Sign up in October.

Sports Coaching

An opportunity to pass on your skills in the local community e.g. children's clubs, training sessions or event management/media & (if you like) work towards a qualification. Various commitments. Subsidies for coaching courses available. Sign up in October to start in Semester One or February to start in Semester Two. Funded by v, the youth volunteering charity.

Tapton Edge

Weekly visits to elderly residents of this care home involving chat, games & crafts. Fortnightly commitment - November to May. Sign up in October.

Flexible (i.e. one-off or short term)

Football for Friendship

Fellas, this one's for you! This one day tournament in March brings together students & young asylum seekers. Flexible commitment - help out in the run up or just on the day. Funded by v, the youth volunteering charity. (Sorry girls, why not try Energise?)

Societies Volunteering

Whatever your society skill or passion, we can help you share it & brighten up a lunchtime for a local group (e.g. schools, luncheon clubs etc). Past events have included dance workshops, film showings, music, murals and more! Funding, support & training available to help you realise your project.

Sports Day

This non-competitive event in May brings together children from 4 local primary schools to learn basketball, hockey & athletics skills. Flexible commitment - help out for the full or just a half day. Funded by v, the youth volunteering charity.
