Societies

Music Players Society

Music Players entertained visitors to St Mark's Lunch Club with their saxophone and clarinet ensemble. The event was designed to be fun way to bring two different generations together whilst the music also provided for a very soothing afternoon!

USLES

USLES or the University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Society, raised the rafters with their unique treatment of the pantomime classic Snow White. Volunteers brightened up the afternoon for pupils at Emmaus Catholic & C of E Primary School – a number of whom had never experienced a trip to the theatre before.

Stitch Soc

Stitchsoc took part in this society's 'stitch-up poverty' events. The students sewed scented beanie toys and fabric beaded necklaces to sell through Oxfam in Broomhill and fundraised over £150 in the process.

Sing Soc

Sing Soc gave up their time to create music and song workshops for local youngsters. Pupils at Westways Primary School were treated to Christmas Carols whilst African songs were the theme for pupils at Emmaus Catholic & C of E Primary School and Firs Hill Community Primary School. The year culminated in a workshops based around the opera 'Dido and Aeneas' for pupils at Firs Hill Community Primary School.

Gospel Choir

Elderly visitors to St Mark's Luncheon Club got a special treat when Gospel Choir volunteers turned out to perform for them. With delicious harmonies and some modern twists, their repertoire made for a moving and memorable event.

Film Unit

Film Unit For many of the children with disabilities who attended these special film showings, it was their first experience of going to the cinema. Volunteers were on hand to ensure that everyone's needs were taken into account, so that parents and children could see WALL-E, Madagascar 2 and Bolt on the big screen.

Between The Pages

Between The Pages found a creative way to raise money for charity. Sales of the society's book thongs raised over £200 towards the purchase of Braille books for Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind.

History Society

History Society bought history to life for Y3, Y4 and Y6 pupils at Westbourne School. In sharing their passion for all things historic, the students aimed to make learning more fun and interactive.

Bollywood Society

As part of an Indian themed weekend, Bollywood Society volunteers taught Girl Guides from across the city to dance - Bollywood style! Guide leaders joined in the fun too and the youngsters later performed for an audience of impressed parents
