Recruit Volunteers for Your Organisation

Are you a voluntary group, charitable organisation, statutory body, social enterprise or other not-for-profit organisation operating in Sheffield? Why not promote your volunteering opportunities through Sheffield Volunteering!

We promote volunteering opportunities to students, graduates and staff members at the University of Sheffield. Last year, 1659 students and staff from 57 departments got involved in 63 different areas of our city and beyond. We volunteered for 26,269 hours in total. 143 local charities and voluntary groups benefited.

Step One:

Register on our SV Hub. Click 'New Organisations Register Now' and fill in your details to create your profile. This should take approx 5 minutes.

Step Two:

Log-in to your profile with your new username and password.

Step Three:

Click on the 'Volunteering' tab and click 'Add new opportunity'. Here you can add different opportunities e.g. 'Environmental Project Volunteer', 'Marketing Volunteer' etc.

Student volunteers will then be able to search for your opportunities on the SV Hub so please fill in as much information as possible. They will contact you directly if they are interested in volunteering with you. Please click here to see the Terms and Conditions of our Volunteer Recruitment Service.

I can't find your terms and conditions

When are students able to volunteer?

Students do not always spend the whole year in Sheffield. It is therefore helpful to make your volunteering opportunities as flexible as possible, and if there is a rigid time commitment to be clear about this from the start. Please see the University Term Dates at http://www.shef.ac.uk/about/dates/2013-14.

Is there a 'best time' to recruit new student volunteers?

The start of each term (October and February) can be a very good time to recruit students as volunteers. This is the time when a lot of students sign up for activities outside of their degree programme, and decide how they would like to spend their spare time for the rest of the year. If your organisation runs specific recruitment drives and deadlines it would be a good idea to consider planning these in October or February.

Do you run 'Volunteer Fairs'?

Yes - in October and February. We also run smaller 'Networking Events' which target students interested in specific areas of volunteering. Please contact Dora if you would like to attend a Volunteering Fair or Networking Event: dora.daniel@sheffield.ac.uk / 0114 222 8530

We are a profit making organisation. Can we still recruit volunteers?

Sorry but no. We only recruit volunteers for not for profit organisations such as charities, statutory organisations, and social enterprises.

I still have questions - who do I contact?
