Sheffield University Wind Orchestra (SUWO) consists of students from departments across the university at all levels of study. We have been running for 11 years now, and we are proud to be one of the university's most active musical groups.
We have performed many world premieres in recent years, and we perform regular concerts in Firth Hall and elsewhere in Sheffield. The orchestra also splits into various chamber groups and plays in concerts as part of the University's Lunchtime Concert Series.
Every year SUWO embarks on a European concert tour, the most recent of which took us to Leuven, in Belgium, during our Easter Vacation. We also make shorter trips during the academic year to perform elsewhere in the UK, including London, Manchester and Scarborough.
If you play a wind, brass, or percussion instrument, enjoy performing music to a high standard and would like to make new friends, then we would love to have you come along and join us!
Auditions for 2011-2012 will be held in Week One, on the 26th September. Come and find us at the activities fair during Freshers' Week for more information!
