UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, works to promote children's rights and to provide the world's most vulnerable children with education, healthcare, food, clean water, shelter and sanitation. It is the world's leading organisation for children's rights working in over 190 countries.
In addition to its development work, UNICEF is currently providing emergency provisions to those in East Africa facing prolonged drought, soaring food prices and ongoing conflict in Somalia. It is also providing provisions for children facing malnutrition in West Africa.
This vital work relies entirely upon donations; the organisation receives no funds from the United Nations. It is neither political nor religious; its agenda being solely to protect the rights of the world's children.
UNICEF On Campus Sheffield aims to raise funds for UNICEF's important work, while also promoting awareness of children's rights and of the problems that the world's children face today.
