Sheffield Uni Stop the Traffik Society are passionate about bringing attention to the problem of human trafficking in our world today. Although slavery was legally abolished in the USA and UK over 200 years ago, it is still happening across the globe - from the far corners of South East Asia to right here in Sheffield. People are trafficked for domestic servitude, drugs cultivation, forced labour (such as on cocoa bean farms), removal of organs, forced marriage, illegal adoptions or sexual exploitation. We as a society are passionate about preventing the sale of human beings, protecting the victims and prosecuting the traffickers. We believe people should be treated as people, not objects to be bought and sold.
We are affiliated to the International campaigning and global coalition group Stop the Traffik
