Societies Committee is elected from an open meeting of Activities Forum towards the end of the academic year, and its core role is to promote and support student activities, to be the representative voice of societies to the Activities Officer, as well as putting on fantastic events such as Showcase and the Activities Awards.
Being on the committee means being the go-to person for societies, and as a committee work towards real solutions for any issues societies may have. It means helping societies work together to put on great events and helping them let people know about those events!
The committee is also the board for the Societies Extra Fund, and over-sees society finances. We also consider New Society Applications and support new societies once they have been established.
This committee needs a variety of people from those that have been society presidents to those that have never been involved at all. Whatever your background, you should think about joining one of the most exciting and vibrant committees in the Union.
