Poetry Society was founded in 2013 to promote the reading, writing and appreciation of poetry. We are a friendly, welcoming society made up of students from a diverse range of backgrounds at the University.
You don't need to be an experienced at writing or reading poetry to get involved. We meet fortnightly in the Union to read poems, exchange ideas and have a drink. Just come along and join in!
We host fantastic poetry events throughout the year and are currently planning to host an open mic night for the spoken word (watch this space!)
Meetings:
We meet once a fortnight for our regular meetings. This session runs a bit like a book club - we release two poems in advance along with some rough talking points. We then get together and discuss the poems with nibbles and a drink.
During these meetings we also encourage readings of your own poetry. If you prefer, you can submit your poem anonymously and it can be read out by someone else - and you can receive anonymous feedback from the group.
Everyone is welcome!
