Promoting blood and organ donation at the University of Sheffield
Organise Sheffield is a branch of the national charity Organise set up in 2010. We have an enthusiatic committee dedicated to promoting blood donation and the NHS Organ donor register.
Currently 96% of the population believe in organ donation but only 33% are registered organ donors. We can make a difference by encouraging as many people as possible to join the register and have that important conversation about your choice with friends and family.
At the moment only 4% of the population are blood donors, we want to increase this by helping people to find out about donating blood and where they can do it. This year we are on the lookout for teams, clubs or societies who want to sign up for a session and all give blood together, great publicity for you whilst saving a life!
The 2012/2013 Committee consist of a President, Vice-president/secretary, Treasurer, Publicity, 2 Blood reps, Blood events rep, 2 Organ reps and Organ events rep/inclusions officer and we meet once a month. We also have a lovely team of volunteers who help out at our events.
Find us at the upcoming freshers events under the big red ORGANise Sheffield banner. We can help you join the NHS Organ Donor Register or answer any question you might have about joining the register or donating blood.
We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help at the ever increasing number of events we have going on. We will provide training so don't be scared about not knowing anything about blood and organ donation.
