Mexican and Latin American Society

Details

The Mexican and Latin American Society (MLAS) has a large tradition of bringing together people from different backgrounds who are interested in the Latin-American culture.

Our aim is to provide a mean of socio-cultural integration through diverse academic and social activities as well as to represent the Latin-American community before the University of Sheffield.

We regularly hold diverse activities such as our "Conversation Group", "Political Debate Club" and Folk and Dance group. Other events include our annual BBQ party, the Latin-American Independence celebrations, the Day of the Dead, the Mexican Posada, film nights and many more!

We look forward to you becoming part of the MLAS! For more information please check out our website and don't hesitate to contact us.

CONVERSATION GROUP

The conversation group is a weekly social activity and is a perfect opportunity to practice your English or Spanish. Come and find us every Thursday at 18:30 in The Interval, it's free!

POLITICAL DEBATE CLUB

In light of the upcoming elections in Mexico, this club gives the opportunity to debate the issues that matter to the society and the country from a political point of view. This activity runs every Friday at 19:00 in University Arms Pub, 197 Brook Hill, S3 7HG.

FOLK and DANCE aka SON DE AMERICA

Son de America is a group of enthusiastic people that use the folk and dance to promote Latin America culture. We have weekly rehearsals every Tuesday from 19:00 to 21:00. You don't need to be a dancer to join in these classes, just send an email to sondeamerica@yahoo.co.uk to know the venues and have fun!
