Get involved with Binky the Elephant and his friends!
We aim to raise awareness of mental health issues within the University and to reduce the stigma attached to mental health problems. With mental health issues affecting 1 in 4 people at some stage in their lives we believe it is important to get people talking about their experiences and sharing their coping strategies and opinions on the matter.
Many working environments often dismiss mental health issues or treat them with ignorance. Working closely with the University's counselling service and the Union's Welfare Committee we want to make sure that this isn't the case at the University of Sheffield!
Our adopted charity is 'Sheffield Mind' who are a leading provider of mental health and wellbeing services in Sheffield. We believe the work they do within the community is amazing and by supporting them we can widen the positive influence our society aims for.
In 2011/12 we ran the following campaigns:
We are a friendly, like-minded group of people who meet every Monday evening from 6-7pm (location varies so just get in touch if you want to join us) - you're always welcome!
