A massive welcome to all of you freshers and a big thanks to those of you who have decided to return to the society this year!

Whether you're a Fresher, Fourth Year, Post-Grad, Erasmus Student or just someone who loves to experience the more "flavoursome side" of language and culture, we've got that something for you!

Last years' committee did a fantastic job but this year we are aiming for an even bigger and better society! I'm talking bar crawls, theme nights, joint SOMLAL events, summer ball, tapas and Mexican meals, salsa nights, fortnightly film nights, sports teams and let's not forget the Hispanic play (which I have very high hopes for)! And if there's anything that you want us to do that I haven't mentioned then please get in touch and we will do our very best to make it happen for you. It is your society after all!

Membership

Membership now costs only £3 for the rest of the year! This includes certain events and gets you discount on the events that you need tickets for! If you still haven't got membership but want to then please contact a member of the committee via Facebook. If you're not sure about becoming a member, please feel free to attend the events anyway but be aware that you may not be able to get the great discounts...

Facebook

Please check out our Facebook group 'La Sociedad Hispanica - Sheffield' which will have information on all events and will have details for getting in touch too. For those of you who are freshers, you can also join the 'Sheffield Sociedad Hispanica Freshers 2011-12' page and get to know each other online =)
Thanks to those of you who came along to the meet and greet! It was really good to meet you all. So now (with uni going way too quickly!) we want to make the most of our time here and get some more socials and activities going!

So far we have had...

• Meet & Greet at Revolucion de Cuba (and the bars for those of us who were crazy enough to do so) which was a massive success!
• Movember Moustache Social - this was an amazing night for everyone who took part and we raised money for charity which is fantastic!
• Football team up and running
• Hispanic Play in motion with performances on the 15th-17th March 2012 at the drama studio
• Dance Your Socks Off
• Lip Dub
• Xmas meal in Revolucion de Cuba followed by Spanish football at the Union and Pop Tarts!

Soon to be confirmed...

We will be having a welcome back social (hopefully) in week 3, a joint SOMLAL social in March and have began planning the summer ball! Prices as to the trip to Spain are still being negotiated but we are hoping to go away during the Easter break so please keep your eyes peeled for updates - it is going to be awesome!

We hope you enjoy the society this year. Don't be strangers!

Xxx besos xxX
