We are the home of Creative Commons at the University of Sheffield. We plan to show off the power of Free, whether that is through film, music, publications, and most importantly, your own creations!
What's Creative Commons? It's a license that gives each of us better freedom to enjoy the arts and sciences in the 21st Century, unfettered by what many see as an outdated system of Copyright. If you want to find out more, feel free to check out the website:http://creativecommons.org/
But anyway, on to the interesting stuff. We're in the very-early stages of planning socials and events to support our cause, and we already have our shiny 'Free Culture Hub' up and running.
"Free Culture Hub?!" I hear you cry. This is an online place to share everything you have created, written, blogged, composed, filmed, recorded, with fellow students under the Creative Commons license.
Membership is the paltry fee of £3 per person, which is cheaper than 6 Mars Bars (!!) and will net you access to the Free Culture Hub and many other as-yet-undecided benefits. We're a very new society, so for now, message us if you're interested!
If you'd like to join Free Culture Society, then please contact the society via email to find out how to get involved.
