The Societies Extra Fund can contribute towards:

• Printing publicity to promote societies and events
• Room hire costs
• Partial subsidy of travel costs to conferences and events
• Partial subsidy of entry fees to conferences/events
• Printing publications
• Hiring or buying equipment (check not already freely available for hire at the Activities & Sports Zone Information desk)
• Speaker fees (up to £50 for transport and £50 per night’s accommodation)
• Initial start-up costs for any new society (up to £50)

The Societies Extra Fund cannot contribute towards:

• Refreshments at socials or events
• Any activity that does not complement the aims and objectives of the society (or the Students' Union)
• DJs/bands/entertainers (where a free option is reasonably available)
• First class or international travel costs
• Incomplete or unclear requests
• Membership cards
• Intra-mural sports teams
• Direct charitable donations
• T-shirts or hoodies for the society, even as 'publicity'
• Travel to demonstrations (although can sell tickets at Box Office)
