Ethical & Environmental Committee 12/13

Details

We're called E&E and we represent students and societies on Ethical and Environmental issues in the University and Union. We meet every Wednesday in the Gallery Eye, 4-5pm, and as a working committee our meetings are open to all students!

Our main annual event is Ethical and Environmental Knowledge Week (EEK Week for short) where we work with as many groups, societies and students to promote E&E awareness through events, campaigns, promotions, discussions, etc. To have a look at the last EEK Week (2011/12), click here!

Other events we've held this year include
  • A celebration of Fairtrade Fortnight (with Fairtrade goodies worth £50 to give away!),
  • Stalls to talk to students,
  • A pedal-powered projector showing of 'The Age of Stupid' for Earth Hour (complete with a pedal-powered smoothie maker!),
  • .. and much more!
Past campaigns include
  • Withdrawal of greyhound racing as a Give it a Go event,
  • Replacement of bottled water with reusable bottles and water fountains
  • Petitioning the University to sign the Workers Rights Consortium.

We're constantly expanding and hope to get a lot more done in 12/13, so we need as many dedicated volunteers as possible!

If you're interested in joining the committee or finding out more, come along to a meeting or send us an email. We're always up for meeting new people, so come along!
