Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Details

What is it? The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a nationally recognised award which aims to provide participants with an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development.

What do you do? The society aims to help students achieve their Gold Award by running expeditions. Previous expeditions have taken place in the Brecon Beacons (Wales), the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the Isle of Arran (Scotland).

The society has links with the local operating authority and can provide help and advice for students wishing to complete the other sections of the award. Our Union is a fantastic place to find inspiration to complete your service, skill, physical recreation and residential sections.

Social Scene: As well as regular social in Sheffield the society also organises purely social trips away ranging from day walks in the Peak District, discounted club nights in the Union, and a Christmas themed weekend in a bunkbarn complete with a full Christmas dinner. Look out for the infamous socials such as Pub Golf, Candid Camera and the end of year AGM.

If you want to be able to develop your hobbies and interests, make the most of the great outdoors and meet loads of new people, then take the challenge!
