Welcome to the University of Sheffield CrimSoc!

We are a new society to 2012/2013. Our society hopes to involves students studying Criminology alongside any other discipline, those wanting to pursue Criminology as a masters or as a career. As a society we hope to be as broad and welcoming as possible especially to those studying Social Policy and Criminology. The committee, made up students studying this degree, have found difficulty placing ourselves in either SocSoc or the Edward Bramley Law Society. Therefore this society hopes to encourage as many Criminology students as possible to get fully involved in our exciting new society!

In the coming year we hope to:

• Establish at least 1 football team and 2 netball teams in the society leagues.
• Organise a large variety of socials - sober; lazer quest, bowling, pub quizes and none sober; a meet and great social as a new society and many more throughout the year.
• Organise nights out to other cities throughout the year.
• Work with our existing Sheffield sponsors; Paris & Beg Borrow Steal, Plug and Tiger Works and establish some more local sponsorships.
• Ensure as many members as possible attend the Ed Bram Winter Ball and, depending on our society numbers, hope to organise our own in the summer.
• Work with Sheffield RAG to set up some charity connections where our members can get involved and raise money for good local causes.
• Offer as many career and further education opportunities as possible by ensuring we work closely with the Criminology faculty members already expressing an interest in our society.

Ultimately we are a small society just started to find out how many people would like to get involved.
As a committee we are a really friendly bunch and we cannot achieve any of this without new members being as excited about our society as we are.

What you get out of university life is only as good as what you put in.
