Amnesty International

Details

Amnesty International is one of the world's biggest human rights organisations. We are ordinary people from around the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied. Here at Sheffield University, as part of Amnesty International, we campaign for human rights; for instance, working for the release of people imprisoned solely for the peaceful expression of their beliefs, or campaigning against torture.

At the very beginning of the new year, we have an exciting even lined up for you - a banner making session ! We have teamed up with the University's 'Give It A Go' programme, and on Friday the 27th of September we will be meeting in the Activities Zone to make banners for our upcoming actions. This will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and just have some fun. Do keep your eyes peeled for details on how to get your tickets (http://www.shef.ac.uk/union/get-involved/give-it-a-go/)

We hold regular letter-writing sessions, meetings, speakers' visits and actions. Our weekly meeting is held TUESDAYS AT 7PM. Everyone is welcome to come along!

We focus on the campaigns that Amnesty International UK have got going on; for up to date information, have a look here: http://www.amnesty.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=21.

See you Tuesday !
