Amnesty International

Details

Amnesty International is one of the world's biggest human rights organisations. We are ordinary people from around the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied. Here at Sheffield University, as part of Amnesty International, we campaign for human rights; for instance, working for the release of people imprisoned solely for the peaceful expression of their beliefs, or campaigning against torture.

We hold regular letter-writing sessions, meetings, speakers' visits and actions. Our weekly meeting is held MONDAYS AT 7PM IN THE ARTS TOWER, LT1. Everyone is welcome to come along!

This semester we are focusing on Amnesty's campaign against the death penalty. Have a look here for more information http://www.amnesty.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=78 and come along to our meetings to get involved!

We also focus on other campaigns that Amnesty International UK have got going on; for up to date information, have a look here: http://www.amnesty.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=21.

See you Monday!
