Why do we have Residents' Engagement Teams?

We want to make sure that living in University accommodation is much more than just a place to sleep; we want to deliver something for everyone to get involved with: from events, activities and sports, to fundraising and volunteering opportunities.

The best way to do that is if the students that live in University accommodation shape the programme themselves. The Residents' Engagement Teams give students the opportunity to do that, whilst organising their own projects and making their own ideas a reality.

Joining the Residents' Fundraising Team has made me more confident and if I hadn't done it I would probably just be a student and nothing more. This gives me a more exciting reason to get out of bed in the morning! It has helped me to learn lots of new skills and develop others that I already had - Jennie, City

There are some great benefits to getting involved in the Residents' Engagement Teams:

• You get time, money and staff support to help make your ideas a reality
• You get loads of training in things like budgeting, events planning and marketing
• It looks good on your CV and gives you something to talk about in interviews
• You could get your involvement verified on your HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report)
• It's a great way to settle into Uni, it helps you meet new people and discover all that is on offer at the University and Students' Union
• It helps you get on to other societies, sports clubs or committees in future years
