Fundraising!

Sheffield RAG

The Communities and RAG work together to bring fundraising out to you!

Sheffield RAG (Raising & Giving) is made up of a group of students who organise fundraising events to support local charities and support individuals who want to fundraise too.

Last year they gave away a huge £178,000 to charity!

Communities and RAG work together to run one- off events, the 'Adopt a Charity' scheme, 'Give As You Rent' and loads of other fundraising fun-ness.

Email communities@sheffield.ac.uk with any ideas or for more information on how to get involved.

Communities 'Adopt a Charity' Scheme

Each Community has its own "adopted charity" - a cause that they've chosen to support for the year. All three Communities compete to raise the most money for their charity.

Each CDC will organise events to raise money for their charity but we also want to see individuals do things too - so whether you want to run a bake sale, or take part in a sponsored run... all the money can go towards your Community's final total and your very own fantastic local cause.

Project Buzz

Project Buzz Logo

Project Buzz is a charity based in the vibrant Broomhall area, hosting a widely diverse community with many socio-economic backgrounds. We provide key services to support vulnerable children and families living in the local community.

'Springers' is our after school club offering child-led play, social and educational opportunities for children aged 4-11, five nights a week. Each night with its own theme, i.e. 'Dance Club', 'Youth Club' or 'Gardening Club'.

During the school holidays, we deliver a range of activities, from weekly sports clubs to one-off trips, engaging families in enriching and positive experiences. These have included anti-gang workshops, trips to the seaside, cinema, ski village and laser zone!

As part of our outreach programme to engage more members of the local community, we have devised a family learning programme of activities, which include ICT and English courses for parents/carers.

We have a great team of volunteers from a range of backgrounds bringing many different skills to the project. Our volunteer base is composed mainly of university students that take up both leading and supporting roles, some running their own mini projects on a weekly basis, with others offering invaluable support to the children and staff team.

Paces Sheffield

Paces Logo

Paces is an innovative and effective regional charity which since 1997 has created an internationally unique model of education, training and care for those with complex and profound learning and physical disabilities, integrated within high value community facilities in a deprived South Yorkshire community in the north of Sheffield, Paces was formed in 1992; registered as a charity in 1995 and established Paces Campus in 1997.

The Paces Project is born in the experience of parenting of children with physical disabilities and their related learning difficulties. Paces Sheffield was founded by parents who have seen at first hand the benefits of Conductive Education developed by the Peto Institute in Hungary for children with physical disabilities (typically cerebral palsy).

The Paces Project recognises the needs of the families and carers of children with disabilities as well as of the children themselves; of the need for independence as well as the need for inclusion in wider community life. Paces Campus at High Green represents the ambitions of the Trustees and other supporters of Paces Sheffield as well as the hopes of the people of High Green to revitalise a major building for the benefit of the local community.
