This easy 4 mile guided walk will give you your first glimpse of the fantastic Peak District which will be right on your doorstep throughout your time at Sheffield. The Peak District National Park is 555 square miles of stunning countryside with dramatic scenery and changing landscapes.
This relatively easy walk of approximately 4 miles is through Chatsworth Park, the jewel in the Peak District crown. It starts in the village of Baslow from where you will be guided on a level path down in the bottom of the valley to Chatsworth House, historic home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Along the way your guide will tell you lots of interesting snippets of local history and general information.
After allowing time to buy refreshments for lunch at Chatsworth House where there is a shop and cafe, the walk continues over gently rolling paths beside the River Derwent to Calton Lees, passing through the picture postcard pretty little village of Edensor. The coach will then pick up at 4pm to bring you back to Sheffield.
You will need to wear either hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes/trainers. Please be sure to bring a warm waterproof coat if the forecast gives rain. You may also wish to bring a bottle of water to drink along the way.
The ticket includes the use of the tour guide and a return bus.
