• We use only 100% recycled paper in our b/w copier.
• We reuse and recycle our cardboard boxes.
• We offer an ink cartridge refill service for customers.

• We only ever switch our machines ON when they're needed.
• We donate used stamps to good causes like 'raise4leukaemia'.
• We recycle mobile phones – (£600 raised for green charities).

We're proud that:

• We collect and recycle your batteries.
• We sell numerous Fairtrade products.
• We donate sandwiches on their use by date to local charities.

We're proud that:

• We walk or cycle to work every day.
• We reuse old computers where possible.
• We recycle old print toner cartridges.
• We buy the most energy efficient computers.

We're proud that we always:

• Hold online elections- saving over 15,000 pieces of paper.
• Support Ethical &Environmental campaigns and policy changes.
• Walk to work.
• Stand up for students!

We're proud that:

• We've massively dropped our paper use (by 'going electronic').
• We reused a lot of our furniture after our office refurb.
• 1/3 of us cycle in regularly, 1/3 use public transport or walk.

We're proud that:

• We're all committed to paper saving (using social media!)
• We house a water fountain and a regular Swap Shop (run by People & Planet).
• We provide green travel info for Sheffield & the Peaks.
• Volunteering has notched up 923 hours on local environmental projects.
• We try to travel green: one of us even ski-ed in last winter!
• RAG have massively reduced printing from £3000 to £500 per year.
• RAG Committee have voted to look into ethically sourced hoodies.
• Sports recycle old kits, and share sports transport with Hallam!
• Communities' 'Bring It Don't Bin It' has saved 4 tonnes of good stuff from landfill.

We're proud that we:

• Create masterpieces from our junk.
• Reuse our rain water for wet play fun.
• Always compost our waste food locally.
• Keep in touch with our parents electronically.

We're proud that:

• We recycle all our glass bottles and now cans, too.
• We donate unclaimed coats to charity shops (after 2 months).
• We use 'Eco Chill' bottle coolers in Foundry and Octagon Hall bars, saving 475kg of CO2 per year.

We're proud that we:

• Print double-sided whenever possible, recycle all paper & travel sustainably.
• Use video conferencing and sustainable travel for conferences.

We're proud that we:

• Lobby the University to become a more ethical and sustainable institution.
• Support Ethical & Environmental campaigns both in Sheffield and nationally.
• Travel to conferences on public transport and never take domestic flights.

• We're saving loads of paper by developing work online by using iPads for sign-ups & meetings, replacing posters with plasma screens & developed online Intro Planner instead of 8,000 printed guides
• We audited the environmental impacts of our print suppliers.
• We monitor the organisation's printing, ensuring yearly reductions.
• We support & deliver campaigns, like Green Impact video/ Free Water.

We're proud that:

• We are moving more and more promotion online through social media.
• We replaced paper timesheets with a new online system.
• All technical lighting we've recently bought for club nights is LED.

• We induct all new staff on the SU's commitment to Environmental Best Practice.
• We no longer have individual waste bins (to encourage recycling).
• We no longer issue all staff handbooks – saving printing almost 1,000 booklets.

We're proud that:

• We currently stock our widest ever range of Fairtrade certified clothing, from hoodies & T-shirts to sweatpants & shorts.
• We promote reuse with our ethically sourced, locally produced Bag It Don't Bin It canvas bags.
• We support local brewery Kelham Island with TUOS Ale Gift Sets.

We're proud that:

• We procure only 100% recycled paper- used internally by all SU staff.
• We now only distribute reports and period end figures electronically.
• We only print double sided, and encourage payments online.

We're proud that:

• (Porters) We play a key role in recycling over 100 tonnes of glass and 40 tonnes of paper and card per year.
• We personally take out all the separated plastics & cans for recycling.
• (Cleaners) We don't use bleach- we always favour eco-friendly cleaning products.
• (Security) We help the SU towards its energy-saving targets by switching everything off on our nightly walkrounds.

We're proud that:

• 95 % of our Real Ales are locally sourced (Sheffield and surrounding areas).
• We recycle all our cardboard, plastic bottles, containers and cans.
• We have over 24 Vegetarian Dishes - including Vegan Breakfasts, Pizza & Burritos.
• All our bread is freshly baked daily in Sheffield, by Roses the Bakers.
• All our eggs are Free Range.

We're proud that:

• Over 400 plastic bottles are recycled here every week.
• All of our milk (over 200 litres a week!) comes from a single local herd of cows.
• We make our coffee grounds available for local gardeners for compost!
• All our espresso, chocolate powder and teas are Fairtrade certified.
