The Union diverts 41.4% of all its waste from landfill – from bars recycling glass to paper and envelopes in the offices. Here are just a few of the things you can do to ensure we carry on getting better and better!
Make sure your old mobile phone is put to good use after you’ve finished with it – instead of binning it, help local schools by taking it to Reception, or drop it off at the Source Desk who collect them for the Children’s Hospital.
Take your old empty cartridge to the Studio Shop and give it a new lease of life with the cartridge refill service. It’s better (and cheaper) than throwing it away and buying a new one!
Make sure you put those unwanted flyers in the paper recycling bins around the Union building rather than in the general waste bins.
Both the Union Shop and the Studio encourage customers to bring and reuse their own bags. If you really need a new bag, the Shop and Studio will provide 3-year degrading plastic bags at a cost of 5p, half of which is donated to Union Environmental Initiatives.
Let someone else benefit from your unwanted possessions and make a bit of cash at the same time! Advertise your goods on the second-hand sales uForum and know that you’re giving your items away to a good home where they’ll be loved.
