Academic Awards 2013 - Recognising Excellence

What are the Academic Awards?

Proudly sponsored by Endsleigh
44% of customers pay less than £55 per month with Endsleigh Student Car Insurance

They are awards given to staff and students to celebrate the efforts they make to create an excellent educational experience for all Sheffield students. Students nominate people for these awards, which are then presented during a ceremony.

Despite various demands on academics', support staff and student representatives' time, many go out of their way to provide excellent teaching and support to students. We think this should be rewarded- by nominating them for a range of awards.

The university puts a lot of emphasis on research which can often lead to tutors not being commended as much as they should be for good teaching. We want to change this.

We also recognise that your education is more than just attending lectures which is why we've got awards for support staff and student representatives.
