General Information
If you have an eating disorder or are concerned about a friend or relative (whether male or female), the Women's Officer can provide information about a range of sources of help and support available in Sheffield.
This includes support groups for people with eating disorders, and for their friends and relatives, a specialist eating disorders service run by the University Health Service, and many other options.
- Biteback is a support group for students and staff affected by eating disorders and is run in association with the South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association (SYEDA). Biteback Sessions are led by trained SYEDA volunteers and offer free support, information and a safe and confidential space to share your experiences. - The University Health Service runs a specialist eating disorders clinic. You can ask your GP to refer you or you call make an appointment yourself through reception at the Health Service. The eating disorders clinic is run by two frienuly Specialist Nurses who can provide support and guided self-help as well as nutritional advice and physical monitoring. The Health Service also has a range of self help books that you can borrow.

- You can also contact the advice line run by the South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association. The advice line is open on Tuesday and Thursdays from 10am to 5pm and the number is 0114 272 8855.
- The University Counselling Service is available to any student registered with the University and can provide advice for people with an eating disorder. You can contact the Counselling Service on ucs@sheffield.ac.uk or 0114 222 4134.
