Sheffield Students' Union has a variety of special events throughout the academic year offering excellent opportunities for association and to promote your brand to students. As a registered charity all money gained through sponsorship is put back into creating bigger and better events for our students.

We have varying levels of sponsorship on offer which can be tailored to suit all objectives and budgets. Some of our biggest sponsorship opportunities are listed below:

Varsity

You thought United versus Wednesday was the biggest derby in town, think again! The black and gold of Sheffield University fight to regain the ultimate sporting prize, VARSITY 2013, taking on Sheffield Hallam at over 60 sporting fixtures. With exciting Winter Varsity Ice Hockey at the Sheffield Arena to the tense last day at Hillsborough, the home of Sheffield Wednesday Football club, it is a key event in the calendar. Varsity attracts huge crowds of around 6000 students from both Universities as well as those interested in seeing the intense rivalry and high quality sports action. The event is promoted for 3 months in our building and to students across the City. This is a great opportunity to get your brand noticed and sponsor the various sporting events.

'Aldi Stores have worked alongside Sheffield Students' Union on sponsoring events such as Varsity for several years. We have always found the Students' Union representatives to be extremely hard working, dedicated and professional. The events we have sponsored and attended always prove to be a huge success with high attendances.

We have found this a great way of promoting our Graduate Recruitment Programme and hope to continue to work with them for many years to come'.

International Events

Throughout the academic year the International Students' Committee (ISC) organises large events: World Food Festival (a taste of the world with representatives from all 7 regions), World Week (a whole week to learn and experience different cultures) and International Cultural Evening - ICE (a showcase of cultural performances by our national societies), all of which are designed to bring people together and showcase cultures and traditions. These events are significant in targeting International students, UK students and the local community, e.g. World Food Festival in particular attracts people from around Sheffield who would like to taste foods from different countries. These events get fantastic support and have attendances of over 3000. ICE will be held this year at the City Hall so we are expecting a bigger audience than ever.

Entertainment Events

With a wide variety of events happening throughout the year, our entertainment events have something to offer everyone. Highlights include Population, ROAR, Pop Tarts, The Tuesday Club, Space, Climax and Flash. We also have special events throughout the year including the Freshers' Ball, Freshers' Mania and Valve Sound system all achieving vast publicity and high attendance.

Award Ceremonies

In May 2013 we will have a fantastic array of award ceremonies taking place, from activities and sports awards, to volunteering and academic awards. Taking place either in the Octagon or at venues across the City we have over 1500 people attending some ceremonies. With promotion in our building, on the website and across the city, never has there been a better opportunity to be associated with a specific area, clientele or the Students' Union itself.
