I started at the Students' Union in May 2007. My job involves running the Last Laugh Comedy Club on Sunday nights; liaising with artistes, the promoters, bar staff, and technical crew. I love the night because I basically get paid to watch people be funny. It can be a bit stressful getting the event open on time, but once the comedians are on, it's great to enjoy the show I've helped put on.
Before I starting working at the Last Laugh I was heavily involved in the Entertainments committee, which involved being in and out of the Ents department, helping out doing club night photography, washing towels, and promoting the Students' Union's nights, through that I started helping at Last Laugh. So, when the job of house manager came up I thought it was ideal for me.
I really enjoy working at the Students' Union, as there is a sense that we actually care about the customers and want to put on a night which we can be proud of, not just make money off people. If I were to suddenly come into loads of money I think I'd still want to do this job!
