Make your own discoveriesAs part of your course, you'll have the opportunity to do your own research. As well as broadening your thinking, it shows that you have an imaginative and analytical mind – qualities that employers value highly.
Personal touchAll students have a personal tutor within their academic department. Your personal tutor is a key part of university life at Sheffield. You can go to your personal tutor with any queries at all – worries about an essay deadline, a bright idea for a project. Your tutor will make the time to listen and point you in the direction of further support if you need it.

How will I be taught?You'll be taught in a variety of ways, including lectures, seminars and tutorials. Depending on what course you take, you could also find yourself doing fieldwork, working on real-life problems and taking part in workshops, team projects and student-led seminar groups. Some of your work might also be supplemented with online lessons and resources. All these approaches encourage you to work independently and be curious about the world around you – skills that will set you up for life and work. How we'll support you in developing your career
Placements and studying abroadThere are lots of opportunities at Sheffield to take on new challenges and enhance your career prospects even further. If your tutors agree, it might be possible to do a work placement – spending a year in business or industry as part of your degree. Your tutor and our dedicated Careers Service will help you explore all the options available to you. Experience an international dimension to your degree with our Study Abroad or Erasmus scheme. You could spend between three and 12 months studying at a top university in Europe, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore or the USA. |
