PhD with Integrated Studies in City, Society and Planning

This four-year integrated doctoral programme provides advanced subject training that leads to the award of the MA in Planning Research and Theory as well as the PhD.

The programme aims to provide high quality research training combining generic social science training with subject specific elements. Career development is an integral and vital aspect of the programme. In addition to the discipline and subject specific elements students participate with all New Route PhD students at Sheffield in a series of cohort activities. These include an induction meeting, workshop sessions on Managing Research Time, Speaking Skills for Research Purposes, Thesis Writing and Viva Preparation together with oral presentations and an annual Graduate Research Conference.
