Marc Schlossberg is an Associate Professor in the Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM) at the University of Oregon and an Associate Director of OTREC, a national transportation research and education centre. Professor Schlossberg´s work focuses on sustainable urban design, active transportation, and community based participatory mapping.
In 2003, Professor Schlossberg was chosen as one of twenty American Next Generation Scholars of STELLA (Sustainable Transport in Europe and Links and Liaisons with America). In 2007, he taught sustainable community development on the island of Kefalonia, Greece. In 2008, he was identified as one of the top twenty scholars at the University of Oregon for his work in sustainable transportation. Prior to obtaining his PhD from the University of Michigan in Urban Planning, Professor Schlossberg was in TheUnited States Peace Corps in Fiji.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Professor Schlossberg will teach and research around issues of sustainable transportation and community change at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. The Fulbright Commission offers the only bi-national transatlantic academic awards programme between the US and the UK and aims to erode the culturally rooted mistrust that sets nations against one another.

Professor Schlossberg is looking forward to his time
in the UK and at the University of Sheffield. He hopes to learn from and
engage with colleagues and students at one of the UK's top planning
programs. He is also looking forward to the enriching experience of living
abroad for his kids, who have all recently started their schooling in local
state schools.
