The University of Sheffield
Institute for Lifelong Learning (TILL)

The Lifelong learning Programme

The Lifelong learning Programme (LLP) offers flexible part time learning. It provides the opportunity for a student to choose a module/modules that are of interest to them and does not require the student to complete a qualification. It is perhaps most suitable for anyone wanting to study a single module for interest, or to take one or more modules for their professional development.

About the course

You are able to study any module at level 1, 2 or 3 offered at TILL which is being taught in the current academic year, and with the approval of the Course Director.

For more information on what modules are available, please refer to the provisional timetables found on the individual subject area web page ie Creative Writing - Certificate.

As an LLP student you would have access to all the University facilities, as any other student would, for the duration of your study. These include the Students’ Union, libraries, Careers Service, computer rooms and sports facilities.

The Institute is staffed by those with a long experience of adult education, and of the richness and wealth of experience adults can bring into the ‘classroom’. The majority of our courses are held in the evenings, with some having weekend fieldtrips. The ‘classes’ on the whole are small, and most teaching and learning takes the form of short lectures and friendly discussions.
