Applying for a University Ucard
If you register for any of our courses you can apply for a University Ucard. This will give you access to the resources of the University of Sheffield Library as well as the Students´ Union and all of its facilities.
If you are studying towards an accredited University qualification you can also apply for a computing account which will enable you to use the campus network, internet access, and the wide range of software provided by Corporate Information and Computing Services (CiCS).
There is an open access computer room in the same building as the Institute. For contractual reasons, computing and electronic library resources are currently available only to students on courses leading to accredited University qualifications such as the Cert HE.
It is recommended that you apply for your UCard at the same time as registering for your course. You will then be issued with a username and password and have full access to all University computing facilities.
The UCard application form is available in the Courses for Everyone brochure, it is also available to download from the right-hand side of this page.
After you've applied
After you've sent us your application form, we'll send you a receipt confirming it has arrived.
If you are applying to one of our named awards (Certificate, Diploma, Foundation Degree) we will usually invite you for an informal interview to discuss your programme of study and module choices.
Towards the start of the academic year, we will also send you information about your programme, your modules and the facilities available to you as a part-time student at the University of Sheffield.
If you have any questions about the application process, please contact the member of support staff responsible for the subject area in which you are interested.
