Where did you live? Would you recommend it?

I lived in Leonardtown. It wasnt as nice as some of the non-catered halls, but it had a better atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it!

Which department(s) did you study in?

Chemistry

How does the workload/classes/teaching styles vary to Sheffield?

It really depends on your classes. I found that I had a similar amount of work during the second semester to what I have in Sheffield, but in the first semester I would say i did less.

What did you do for fun at the weekends and during the holidays?

We went travelling quite often as DC is relatively close to many other great places.

Did you join any societies or clubs?

The ski society (definitely recommended!).

Describe the University/City/things to do

The university has great sports facilities and you can go watch the college games which is always fun. DC also has a lot of free things to do, such as loads of museums and the zoo.

Could you give any travel or immigration tips?

Just make sure you get your visa sorted with plenty of time.

Could you give any advice or tips to a student preparing to go or tell them anything you wished you knew in advance?

Make sure you have your modules sorted as early as possible, and if your unsure about anything just email the corresponding lecturer as many times as required until they tell you what your looking for.

Would you say it is cheaper or more expensive to live than Sheffield?

Living costs are relatively similar, although I spent lots more due to travelling.
