Why did you choose Sheffield?
I was set on going to England to study, so I talked to our study abroad advisor and she recommended Sheffield. I liked what I read about Sheffield, so I decided to go.
Where did you live?
Stephenson Hall
What did you do for fun/ at weekends?
I went on the give it a go day trips a lot on the weekend, and when I didn´t do that, I travelled on my own to other cities. I also went out with other international students to the bars.
How does the workload/classes/teaching styles vary to back at home?
It´s a lot less demanding. I´m used to daily homework from my classes in Wisconsin, but that was mostly nonexistent in my classes at Sheffield. The teaching was more interactive at Sheffield. In a big class, my professors don´t normally bother to get participation, but in Sheffield, they encouraged it much more.
Describe Sheffield in a short paragraph
Sheffield definitely has a lot to offer to students. There´s always something to do everyday, and the union is probably the best one I´ve seen. The city itself is located to so many great attractions.
If you could give advice to a prospective student thinking of choosing Sheffield, what would you say?
I would tell them Sheffield is very much a student city. It´s a fun city for any type of student that you are. There´s so much to do.
Could you give any advice or tips to a student preparing to come to Sheffield or tell them anything you wished you knew in advance.
I would tell them to get involved in clubs or sports because I regret not doing that.
