I can say without exaggeration that every single day I was in Sheffield I woke up grateful to be there. I was thrilled to be experiencing life in a different society on a different continent. I quickly fell in love with the school system and became deeply attached to my professors, with their new teaching styles and eagerness to share knowledge.

I took trips at least twice a month to visit numerous cultural and historical draws around the United Kingdom, but Sheffield was certainly home. Joining student societies and having a close-knit group of friends helped me make the most of my year abroad, as did taking modules that are not offered by my home institution.

University is about becoming well educated, and studying abroad is simply invaluable for everything it allows a student to learn, in and out of the classroom.



Lykara returned to Sheffield to study for an MA in English Language and Literature in 2007.
