Tuition Fees
Who pays tuition fees?
If you are coming to Sheffield as a "independent" student - i.e your home university does not have an exchange with us, then you will pay our tuition costs.
If you are on a exchange with us, you will not pay tuition fees to Sheffield.

Sponsored Students
If someone else is paying your fees (tuition and/or accommodation), like your home University, you need to email ieu@sheffield.ac.uk with the following details;
- Full name
- Full mailing address
- Email address
- Telephone number
This information will then be passed onto the Finance Team at Sheffield and they will arrange for an invoice to be automatically sent to the person indicated above.
The invoice will only be sent AFTER your arrival in Sheffield.
When do I pay my tuition fees?
There are two options.
1. You can either pay when you arrive in Sheffield. You will be sent an invoice by our finance office shortly after arrival or requested to pay your fees when you register.
2. You can pay in advance via our on-line payment facility.
How do I pay my tuition fees?
The on-line system will ask for your "Customer/Student Account No", this is where you should type in your "Applicant Number".
If you have any issues using this system you can find contact details on the "How to contact us" link on the website below.
You need to have received your "Applicant number" before you can pay for anything.

Accommodation Fees
If you apply and accept a place within University Accommodation, you will be eligable for all of the costs attached to accepting the contract.
Deposit
On acceptance of any University owned accommodation, you are required to pay a £150.00 accommodation deposit.
This amount is then transferred to your account and held as the damage deposit for the length of your contract. Deductions may also be made from the
deposit at the end of your contract for any extra cleaning requirements.
The deposit amount left at the end of your contract is credited back to you. If you paid by credit card, it is applied to the card.
When and How do I pay for my accommodation?
The accommodation payment applies the same principles as paying for tuition. Please read the section above for information.
