  3. The Arts Tower

    Will you take the Arts Tower Challenge?

    Student Fundraisers are being challenged to climb the University’s iconic Arts Tower to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

    The Take the Stairs challenge aims to get people climbing all 390 steps of the 78-metre high building and participants will be treated to breathtaking views over the city when they reach the top.

    Watch out for mobile phone thieves

    There has been a significant increase recently in mobile phone thefts across Sheffield in Cafés, late bars and clubs.

    Students are being advised to watch out for these opportunistic thieves. Keep your bag with you and fastened at all times as many thefts have been from unattended or unfastened shoulder or hand bags.

    University support for Care Leavers

    October 24 -30 is National Care Leavers Week and the theme for this year is ‘Opening Doors’. Launched by The Care Leavers Foundation the aim of the week is to ‘raise awareness among public and politicians alike about the ongoing needs of care leavers, and the inadequate levels of support which these young people receive when they leave care.’

  15. Amy Durrant

    University journalism student nominated for literary award

     Amy Durrant, a University of Sheffield Journalism student, has had her debut novel nominated for the 2013 London Book Award.

    Amy, currently studying the third year of her undergraduate degree, had her novel Prisms published earlier this year by the US publishing house Rainstorm Press.
