Congratulations to all Green Impact teams!

Green Impact 2013 videoWe celebrated Green Impact in style at the BeCause Showcase and Green Impact Awards. With speeches and presentations from Professor Sir Keith Burnett, Professor Rebecca Hughes, Keith Lilley and Professor Tony Ryan, it was an exciting and informative afternoon.

In 2013, Green Impact teams at the University completed a total of 2,013 greening actions. Of these, 1,230 were as a result of Green Impact.

Estimated savings made this year from our greening actions have been calculated. An estimated 1,976 people have been reached by teams campaigning for staff to switch lights off when leaving the room, potentially saving 217,024 kg CO2 and £33,908.

An estimated 1,844 people have been reached by teams raising awareness to print and photocopy double-sided, potentially saving 99,576 kg CO2 and £36,880 on resource costs.

Peter Madden, Chief Executive of forum for the future, explains the importance of Green Impact. Click here to watch his video.

Award winners at the event were presented with a certificate and an award made from a reclaimed slate. Best In Faculty award-winners will have the opportunity to plant a tree in the name of their department on University premises.
