Your English Language skills

University English students said they wanted more contact with their future department.

We have introduced a Transitions programme which helps students make contacts and arrange visits.

English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) students said they would like hot water for tea/noodles.

We have installed a hot water dispenser.

WAS (Writing Advisory Service) students said they wanted an online booking system.

English Language Support (ELS) students said they wanted more dissertation support during the summer.

We provided dissertation support in two different ways in the summer: face to face sessions and in webinars.

Distance Learning students wanted more of our tailored language support in their department.

ELTC has expanded its programme of delivery.

Students taking part-time Cambridge Exams classes said they wanted more teaching hours.

We increased the courses from 30 to 40 hours.

Distance Learning students said they wanted to access our Writing Advisory Service.

We are running a pilot scheme to offer WAS online.

2011 Summer School students said there were too many students per class.

In 2012 the average went down from 17 to 14 (6 week course) and from 15 to 13 (10 week course).

TEFL(Teaching English as a Foreign Language) trainees wanted more flexible teacher training options for pre-service EFL training.

We have introduced our CELTA Course Online allowing people on a busy schedule a more flexible route to the internationally-recognized CELTA (Certificate in Foreign Language Teaching to Adults) qualification.
