Annual Student Satisfaction Survey 2005
You said that you found it difficult to access library materials
- We will look at providing more copies of those books in heavy demand
- We are working on making course packs better
- We have obtained additional funding for more books and to improve access to learning resources
- We’ve introduced an iPod® self-guided tour of the Main Library
You said that you couldn´t always find a place to study
- The Information Commons, opening early in 2007 will provide nearly 1300 study spaces in a state of the art building. In the meantime, we will also continue the extended opening hours in the Main Library.
- We’ve extended opening hours at the Health Sciences Library’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital site to include Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
You said that the Star catalogue doesn´t always given accurate information about book availability
- Star will be improved so that if it says that an item is ‘not on loan’ then it should be available on the shelves, unless someone is using it in the library
You said that you wanted a better environment in which to study
- We’re working on it! As well as opening the Information Commons, we’re starting on a programme to upgrade the Main Library. The Reading Room windows will be replaced next year to improve insulation and cut down solar heat gain.
