Annual Student Satisfaction Survey 2005
You said that the Careers Service could do more to help students obtain part time work.
- We opened the Student Jobshop facility in the Students’ Union in September 2005 to provide individuals with easier access to information on internships, part time and vacation work opportunities
You said that you would like to see more engineering companies represented at careers fairs.
- At the 2005 Yorkshire Autumn Graduate Recruitment Fair 29 engineering organisations were represented. The Careers Service has also worked closely with relevant departments to invite more engineering companies to events on campus.
You said that it would be helpful for students working/studying outside Sheffield if an email service could be provided.
- We offer an email advice service via the Careers Service’s website and aim to respond to all enquiries within three working days.
You said that you would like to book careers appointments in advance
- We have just introduced a system whereby students can book short advice sessions in the Careers Information Centre up to 48 hours in advance.
You said that you only wanted to receive information about Careers Service and employer presentations when you were ready to receive them
- We send students a regular email bulletin with details of events taking place within our What’s On programme, we have just built in an opt-out system to enable students to indicate if they do not want to receive the bulletin.
