Support Worker
What is a Support Worker?
Support Workers provide individual support in order for students with a disability/medical condition/learning difficulty to gain equal access to their chosen course. By doing this you can provide the input which may assist a student in fulfilling their potential here at the University of Sheffield. It differentiates this type of study help from other types of medical support or personal care and includes a range of support such as:
- Note-taking
- Reading
- Library Support assistance
- Support and Guidance Mentoring
A variety of well paid positions are available depending on experience and tasks undertaken.
How do I register as a Support Worker?
You need to complete an 'Expression of Interest Form' which is available at the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service. Once you have completed this form, your details will be kept on a database and you will be contacted when an appropriate vacancy becomes available.
The rates of pay for specific posts may vary depending on the support you are asked to provide.
